Norfolk Pig Roast Weekend

Invited to the first annual Norfolk pig roast hosted by my marvelous elder nephew Charlie & Wife Trista. All the nephews and only niece there with their kids in tow. Brother Chuck & Julie too. Plus assorted family dogs. Charlie’s mom’s family has a few members living in Norfolk too which made it a General reunion of sorts.

Wonderful time. Loads of food and drink. We stayed at the Hampton Inn by the naval base. More on that later ….

First ya gotta cross the big bridge and tunnel up!

Grab a koozie and a drink and watch the pig!

Wonderful time. Then the next day we skooted down the road to Waterside and took the river excursion! Best tour! Very informative about the port and all our navy ships! Even saw subs docked!

But the best part was seeing Hull# 69. The ship Charlie is assigned to. USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The USNavy’s finest 5 star aircraft carrier!!

Charlie’s ship!

As we exited our excursion boat, the loudspeaker played Lee Greenwood singing “Proud to be an American “. It certainly is true witnessing this arsenal! 🇺🇸
